Congratulations, World Barista Champion 2010 Mike Phillips (USA)!

I’ve just heard news from the results of the drawing for the order of performances during World Barista Championships 2010. Keith Loh, representing Singapore will be the FIRST PERFORMER on Day 2 of the event.
Just as we know that Keith is representing Singapore in London for this year’s World Barista Championship 2010, the result for WBC 2011 has just come to light. It will be held in Bogota, Colombia. Andrew Hetzel has the full report.
This is the video of Keith Loh’s (Oriole Cafe) winning performance during the Final Round of the Singapore National Barista Championship 2010. Keith went on to win the Championship and will be representing Singapore in the World Barista Championship held in London later this year.
This is the video of John Ting’s (Oriole Cafe) performance during the SNBC 2010 Finals on 27 February 2010. John won 2nd Place in this year’s Singapore National Barista Championship.
This is a video of Suhaimie Sukiman’s performance during the Finals for Singapore National Barista Championship 2010. Suhaimie will go on to win 2nd Runner Up for SNBC 2010.
John Ting of Oriole Cafe;
Keith Loh of Oriole Cafe;
Vic of Oriole Cafe;
Suhaimie Sukiman of CuppaChoice;
Ahmad Hidayat of Kith Cafe;
1 other chap whose name escapes me from Spinelli Coffee
My predictions went 4 of 6.
Congratulations and good luck to these individuals. Suhaimie must’ve wowed the judges with his karaoke number. He was so at ease and oozing confidence with his performance yesterday he started singing to his music while pulling shots. :)
Here’s a video of John’s performance at this year’s SNBC. Having participated in SNBC every year since 2007, John has been placed Runner Up in 2007, and Champion in 2008 and 2009. His latest WBC 2009 rank representing Singapore is #21.
Despite having seen only a handful of performances, I will say that Oriole Cafe should once again dominate the top 3 positions this year. John’s performance was tip-top despite going 2 seconds over the time limit of 15 minutes. Cuppachoice would be my other bet to cinch the top 3’s. Suhaimie’s performance was excellent, especially his signature beverage. My predictions will be:
#1 John Ting of Oriole
#2 Keith Loh of Oriole
#3 Suhaimie Sukiman of Cuppachoice
Other favourites whom I’ve not seen perform will be Ian Consulta of CuppaChoice, Ahmad Hidayat of Kith Cafe.
